Centro situato a occidente di Firenze, alla confluenza del torrente Vingone nel fiume Arno. Noto nel Medioevo come Lastra a Gangalandi, fu possedimento di un ramo dei conti Cadolingi di Fucecchio e in seguito, nel XII secolo, di Firenze, di cui seguì le vicende storiche. Qui nel 1304 fu sventato il tentativo the exiles to return to Guelph white Frenz, from where they had been driven out two years earlier by Guelph blacks. Not far from the habitat, is of great interest P ieve of St. Martin in Gangalandi building of Romanesque origin but rebuilt in the fifteenth and the XI century. The interior is a striking semicircular apse, whose construction is attributed to Leon Battista Alberti in quattrocentsche pure forms, and contemporary works. In the chapel of the Baptistery, there is a fine marble font. Also of considerable interest is the Madonna of humility, housed in the small museum vicar, by Lorenzo Monaco.
In the area there are some important houses of the XV-XVI century by riordare in particular, the Villa Bellosguardo , with an Italian garden.

Market dell'ntiquariato and collecting
is held in the historic center of plate to sign three times a year: April 25, the last Sunday of August and 8 December. An important event for all those who are interested in furniture and objects from the past. Collects a large number of exhibitors and collectors.
