 
     "Chemistry: our life, our future" . With this slogan, the UN has chosen to celebrate the achievements and contribution to human welfare science that changes the world by declaring 2011 the International Year of Chemistry, and entrusting the responsibility to UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - and IUPA, the International Union of Chemistry Pure and Applied.

  After the inauguration on January 28 at the International UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the chemistry makes a stop in Piedmont: Wednesday, March 7 the Rectors of the three universities inaugurate the International Year of Chemistry Calendar Piedmont in the frame especially significant in the Great Hall "Primo Levi" of the Faculty of Science (17.00 - Via Pietro Jury, 7). Information lectures, readings and theatrical performances, a new journal devoted to the history and curiosity about the chemistry: a packed calendar of initiatives to bring the audience to a fascinating and controversial science.

  to remember the figure of Ascanio Sobrero, the inventor of nitroglycerine, and anticipating the show, which begins June 15 in his honor, Elena Pugliese - author of the text - has collected  alcune figure tra le più esperte e rappresentative nel campo della storia della chimica torinese, che tuttora portano avanti la memoria dell’operato di Ascanio Sobrero.
